In 2011, Cone Health received the following awards/recognitions:
The Endoscopy departments at The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Wesley Long Hospital, Annie Penn Hospital and LeBauer HealthCare have been recognized by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy(ASGE) as programs promoting quality in endoscopy. The certificate recognizes that the programs adhere to ASGE guidelines on privileging, quality assurance, endoscopy reprocessing and infection control by incorporating them into their practice and policies.

- The Urgent Care Center at The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital and the Urgent Care Center at MedCenter Kernersville have been designated true urgent care centers by the Urgent Care Association of America. This means people seeking care can be confident that the centers meet standards such as having X-ray, phlebotomy, EKG and other medical services onsite.
Cone Health received the Flu Vaccination Challenge Gold Award from Joint Commission Resources for having more than 95% of employees vaccinated against the flu. Influenza hits the young, the elderly and people with chronic medical conditions especially hard. As part of our commitment to the safety of our patients, Cone Health requires its employees to be vaccinated against the flu.
Named to The News & Record Top Workplaces list for 2011. This list was created by surveying employees of area companies. Please be aware that we are listed as Moses Cone Health System. (We became Cone Health in May 2011.)
"Excellence in Professionalism Award 2011” presented by The American Board of Certification for Gastroenterology Nurses. The certification program for gastroenterology nurses and associates was developed by the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates to recognize professional achievement and to promote excellence in the specialty.
Cone Health was again named a 2011-2012 Consumer Choice Award winner. The National Research Corporation (NRC) presents this award annually to hospitals that consumers say have the highest quality and image.
In 2010, Cone Health received the following awards/recognitions:
- Moses Cone Heart and Vascular Center is accredited as a Chest Pain Center from the Society of Chest Pain Centers, validation that we provide the best possible care for patients who may be having a heart attack.
- Moses Cone Heart and Vascular Center is a UnitedHealth Premium Cardiac Specialty Center, as designated by UnitedHealthcare; and a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care, as designated by BlueCross BlueShield.
- Moses Cone Heart and Vascular Center is nationally recognized as a leader in cardiac surgery. We are among the top 12 percent of heart centers nationwide to have received the 3-star, highest quality rating from the Society for Thoracic Surgeons.
- Cone Health has received the Red Apple Award from North Carolina Prevention Partners for encouraging employees to make healthy food choices.
- Cone Health Cancer Center has been granted Three-Year Accreditation with Commendation by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons.
The accreditation covers Cone Health Cancer Center as well as the satellite offices at MedCenter High Point and the Cone Health Cancer Center at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville.
- Cone Health has earned the Gold Star Standard Award from NC Prevention Partners (NCPP) for providing the highest standard of excellence of tobacco cessation programs offered to its employees. Cone Health is among the first in North Carolina to earn the Gold Star Standard award by NCPP.
- Cone Health has met The Joint Commission's national standards for healthcare quality and safety and has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of ApprovalTM.
- The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital and Wesley Long Community Hospital have been designated "Blue Distinction Centers for Knee and Hip Replacement." In addition Moses Cone Hospital has been designated a "Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery." The "Blue Distinctions" were awarded by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina as part of a national program of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association.
- The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital has been recognized as one of the top 100 hospitals in the nation in terms of the value it provides to the community. The ranking comes from Cleverley + Associates, a leading healthcare financial consulting firm specializing in operational benchmarking and performance enhancement strategies. The group released the findings as part of its new publication: State of the Hospital Industry - 2010 Edition.
- Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina has designated Wesley Long Community Hospital as a Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery. Blue Distinction is a designation awarded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies to medical facilities that demonstrate expertise in delivering quality healthcare. The designation is based on rigorous, evidence-based selection criteria established in collaboration with expert physicians' and medical organizations recommendations.
- Moses Cone Heart and Vascular Center has received the Gold Performance Achievement Award for the treatment of heart attacks from the American College of Cardiology Foundation - one of only 135 hospitals nationwide to receive the recognition.
