"Weigh to Wellness" is now offering two six-week weight management programs, led by Jeannie Sykes, PhD, a registered dietitian with the Cone Health Family Medicine Center.
- “Weigh to Wellness I: The Fundamentals” begins on Sept. 9, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Area Health Education Center, Room 0043. This series will focus on evidence-based weight management principles with an emphasis on behavior change. Topics to be addressed include goal setting, appetite management, diet composition, restaurant foods, label reading, physical activity and weight loss aids, such as artificial sweeteners and supplements.
- “Weigh to Wellness II: Beyond Diets” begins on Oct. 21, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Area Health Education Center, Room 0041. This series is for people who feel they know basically what to do for weight loss, but are not sure about the how. It explores some of the less tangible but important aspects of weight management, such as the influence of sleep, environment, self-compassion and habit, and suggests strategies for realizing desired behavior change.
The fee is $150 for each six-week class.
Participants may register for either or both classes.
Registration deadline for “Weigh to Wellness I: The Fundamentals” is Sept. 2.
Registration deadline for “Weigh to Wellness II: Beyond Diets” is Oct. 13.
