Like any new skill, breastfeeding will be more successful with early preparation and practice. This 2-part class will help you feel ready to begin this important relationship. Your partner is encouraged to attend with you.
Weekend childbirth class. This class covers the care of your newborn, and the basics of labor and childbirth. It also includes a hospital tour and lunch. Register now to take this class when you are approximately 34-36 weeks pregnant.
Let your children share in the joy of a new brother or sister in this special class designed just for them.
Topics for this 2 hour class include the latest updated information on epidurals, pain medication and other medical interventions that you may experience during labor or birth. This class also prepares expectant parents for the possibility of a surgical birth of their baby(Please note: This class is included in the Birth & Baby series and the Condensed Birth & Baby classes. It is not included in A Natural Childbirth)
Experienced dads, who have been trained as coaches, teach dads-to-be how to hold, comfort, diaper, swaddle and play with their infant while being able to support the new mom. A class for men taught by men.
Learn infant and child resuscitation skills from credentialed American Heart Association instructors. Also included is the treatment of conscious and unconscious choking infants and children. Register each participant individually to ensure that enough mannequins are available.
Interested in a waterbirth? This informational class will help you discover whether waterbirth is the right fit for you. Education about waterbirth itself, supplies you would need and how to assemble your support team is what you can expect from this class. Not all practices offer waterbirth. Check with your healthcare provider. (Register only expectant mom, but you are encouraged to bring your partner to class!)
Learn how to continue your breastfeeding relationship while you are apart from your baby. This class will address ways to maintain your milk supply, pumping strategies and milk storage. We recommend attending this class after breastfeeding has been established.
