Cone Health Cancer Center, located adjacent to Wesley Long Hospital, has been designated a Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. As part of our research program, we affiliate with Southeast Cancer Control Consortium, to participate in National Cancer Center-approved clinical research projects, which gives our cancer patients access to the newest developments in cancer treatment and care.
Cone Health Cancer Center was the first to bring to North Carolina one of the newest treatments - Tomotherapy. Tomotherapy offers treatments options that patients would not have had just a few years ago.
Services of the cancer center include surgical and gynecological oncology programs, North Carolina's first inpatient Hospice unit, an oncology inpatient nursing unit, an oncology dental program and a dedicated inpatient oncology rehabilitation program.
The cancer center's outpatient services include radiation oncology, chemotherapy, blood product transfusions and procedures, and the Risk Assessment Clinic for genetic screening. And since families battle cancer together, Cone Health Cancer Center offers a program of extensive education and support services for patients and their families, with dietitians, social workers and support groups to help fight the disease.
Cancer services are also provided at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro, at Morehead Hospital in Eden and at MedCenter High Point.
