Email a Patient

The E-mail a Patient service helps people send messages of support to their friends and family members while they are patients in one of the Cone Health hospitals.

Delivery information

E-mailed messages are printed out in the Volunteer Services offices and hand-delivered by one of our volunteers Monday through Friday during regular business hours.

Every effort will be made to ensure that your greeting is received in a timely manner, but we cannot guarantee delivery. We cannot deliver messages to patients before they have been admitted as inpatients or after they have been discharged.

E-mails received during the weekend will not be delivered until Monday. There may be delays in delivery of e-mails received on holidays.

We treat these e-mails as personal and private communications. We assume no responsibility for the content of e-mail sent to patients.

Please note that the service is set up only to receive messages. We cannot send outgoing replies.

Because of privacy laws, if a patient chooses not to be listed in our hospital directory, we will not have access to any information, including the individual's name or location in the hospital. Therefore, we cannot deliver messages to patients not listed in our directory.

Undeliverable messages will be discarded.

Please limit your messages to no more than two per week.

Confidentiality

E-mail is not secure. Be aware that a hospital volunteer may need to read your e-mail in order to verify the patient's identity. For this reason, please do not send any sensitive information through this system. We maintain the right to discard messages that are deemed inappropriate. Messages with questionable content or business/vendor solicitations will not be delivered and will be deleted from the message center. As the result of confidentiality issues, the e-mail service is not available to patients at Moses Cone Health System Behavioral Health Center.

This service should not be used for confidential communications. It is meant solely as a method of sending encouragement to patients in the hospital. Please do not include attachments, information of a personal nature, any medical or diagnostic information, Social Security numbers, credit card numbers, etc. in your messages.

Sending e-mail

To send an e-mail to your friend or loved one, just click on the name of the hospital below where he or she is a patient. A pre-addressed e-mail form will pop up. You must put the patient's name and room number in the subject line. Complete your message and press send. It's just that easy. We cannot print out online greeting cards or attachments, so please don't attach documents, pictures, cartoons, etc.
