The fastest life-saving treatment - Cone Health is one of only 135 hospitals nationwide to receive the Gold Performance Achievement Award for the treatment of heart attacks from the American College of Cardiology Foundation. The Heart Center also consistently ranks among the best in the state for its door-to-balloon time, or the amount of time it takes to open blocked arteries in a patient having a heart attack. The quicker this happens, the better a patient's chance for survival with fewer complications. Here, that time averages about 55 minutes - 35 minutes better than the clinical guidelines recommend.
