Special Fetal Monitoring Equipment

Fetal MonitoringThe Center for Women’s Healthcare in Kernersville offers ladies the convenience of obstetric and gynecological care without the drive. Specialists and special equipment are available at the Kernersville office to support a variety of healthcare needs.

Nonstress testing, or NST, equipment can monitor your baby’s condition.

An NST monitoring session measures:
• fetal heart rate.
• fetal movement.
• uterine activity.

Factors like multiple gestation or preeclampsia can cause fetal distress.

An NST could be needed if your due date passes, but your baby stays put. Monitoring can determine if the baby is happy where he is or if labor may need to be induced.

“Having this available to our patients is another way we’re making prenatal care more convenient to women in Kernersville,” explains Lora Clark, RN, as she adjusts the monitoring belt on an expectant mother who was several days past her due date.

Every time the baby moves, the patient clicks a button similar to what contestants use on Jeopardy! How reactive the baby is and how many uterine contractions are measured help provide a more complete picture of the baby’s condition.

Beyond prenatal care, the Center for Women’s Healthcare can provide ultrasounds, pap tests and other wellness exams for OB/GYN.
