18th Women's Only sets records, raises $95,175

The 18th Women’s Only 5K Walk & Run set records in terms of participants, volunteers, sponsors and money raised. This year’s event brought in $95,175 for the Mammography Scholarship Fund. A total of $93,600 was raised last year.

“Breast cancer can be a curable disease if caught early,” says Cindy Farrand, President, The Women’s Hospital of Greensboro. “We work hard to spend that money wisely every year so no woman will go without the potentially lifesaving screening mammogram.”

2,969 participants. 33 sponsors and 365 volunteers were part of the event at The Women’s Hospital. This means 590 area women will be able to get a potentially life-saving mammogram.

The Mammography Scholarship Fund provides mammograms for women who might not otherwise be able to afford one. All of the money raised by participants goes to the fund. Doctors recommend mammograms as the gold standard for detecting breast cancer early.

”I can’t say thank you enough to everyone involved for supporting the women in our community,” Farrand adds.
