Hislop Becomes VP, Cone Health Cancer Center

Skip Hislop has been named Vice President of Cone Health Oncology Services. Hislop has served as interim vice president since June.

Although he has been a manager for most of his recent career, Hislop says he has never lost sight of patient care. “I can still impact that by developing, coaching, guiding, and leading our staff and our organization to greatness,” Hislop says. “That is done by making sure the patient is taken care of during their entire experience with us. Customer service is making sure the patient’s expectations are exceeded.”

Hislop joined Cone Health in January as Director of Medical Oncology. As vice president he is leading the opening of the $15 million Cone Health Cancer Center expansion project and the installation of the first TrueBeam STx device in North Carolina. “Under his leadership, I believe our physicians and staff will continue to make great strides toward achieving our goals of superior patient care, clinical innovation and research,” Terry Akin, Chief Operating Officer, Cone Health, says.

Cone Health Cancer Center offers services at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro, Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville, MedCenter High Point, Randolph Hospital in Asheboro and Morehead Hospital in Eden.
Hislop joined Cone Health from Blue Ridge Cancer Care in Roanoke, Virginia, where he served as the practice administrator.

A native of New York, Hislop earned a Master of Science in Business Management and a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Health Service Management, both from the State University of New York Institute of Technology in Utica, NY.
