"Celebrating Nurses" Finalists Announced

               Courtney Keatts

Cone Health congratulates Sarah Clark, Courtney Keatts and Janet Dawson. They are among the 10 nurse finalists profiled in the News and Record’s 2012 Celebrating Nurses special section. The section ran Sunday. The 2012 Nurse of Distinction will be named from among those finalists during a banquet on May 10.

The News and Record collects nominations throughout the year. (Cone Health was represented by 36 nominees.) The N.C. Nurses Association chooses the finalists and overall winner. Their strong impact on patients and the community, value as a professional registered nurse, leadership and embodiment of the profession are all attributes looked at by the judges.

“Congratulations to three wonderful representatives of the nursing profession at Cone Health,” says Theresa Brodrick, Chief Nursing Officer, Cone Health. “Nurses play a vital role not only at the bedside, but in coordinating a patient’s care, teaching that patient what to do once they leave the hospital and are even involved in the research that leads to better care for all of us in the future. Nurses are an integral part of the healing process.”

Clark works as the Simulation Center Coordinator for Staff Education at Cone Health. Dawson is recently retired, but she still works at Guilford Park Presbyterian Church as a congregational nurse through the Cone Health Congregational Nurse program. Keatts works on the main patient care unit at Annie Penn Hospital.
