Cone Health Employees Make Their Mark On North Tower

Cone Health employees began writing their names and sentiments on a steel beam that will be placed at the top of the new North Tower at The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.

The beam signing began Tuesday morning during an event on the Cone Health Heart and Vascular Center patio. It is part of the celebration leading to the mid-point of construction for the tower.Employees Signing Beam

Moses Cone Hospital President Judy Schanel noted that the North Tower is the largest project undertaken in the history of Cone Health.

“In all, this represents a major expansion of our campus,” Schanel said. “When complete, it will provide private patient rooms, add 16 state-of-the-art operating rooms and a new emergency department – all to better serve our community.”

Employee Signing BeamIn two weeks, the employee signed beam will be moved to the construction site where it will be placed as the final beam atop the North Tower during a ceremony on May 11.
