Triad HealthCare Network Accepted into Medicare Shared Savings Program

Triad HealthCare Network has been selected to participate in the Medicare Shared Savings Program, an initiative sponsored by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to improve the quality and continuity of care while reducing the growth in Medicare expenditures through enhanced care coordination.

Under the Shared Savings Program, Triad HealthCare Network will focus on coordinating and maintaining the health of Medicare beneficiaries instead of simply caring for them when they are sick. Using enhanced information technology, any Triad HealthCare Network doctor the patient sees will know that their patient was recently diagnosed with high blood pressure or that the patient is due for a pneumonia vaccination. A care coordination team will follow chronically ill patients to improve the chances that they are taking medications regularly or getting needed treatments as scheduled.

“The Shared Savings Program is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate how collaboration among our community of health care providers will allow us to markedly improve the quality and value of the care we provide our patients,” says Steve Neorr, Vice President and Executive Director, Triad Healthcare Network. “For Triad HealthCare Network, this is about getting patients the right care at the right time in the right setting.”

Triad HealthCare Network is made up of more than 700 healthcare providers. It will be responsible for caring for 34,000 Medicare patients in a five-county area. That makes Triad HealthCare Network one of the largest accountable care organizations in the CMS program. The doctor-patient relationship will not change under the Shared Savings Program. Patients will continue to see the caregivers of their choice.

“This is about using technology to link caregivers in order to bring people the high quality, preventive healthcare that we have always wanted,” Neorr adds.
