Cone Health Cancer Center at Alamance Regional Receives Accreditation with Commendation

Cone Health Cancer Center at Alamance Regional has received accreditation with commendation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. The commendation is the result of an on-site survey performed in September. Accreditation is granted to cancer programs that meet 36 quality measures that provide a multidisciplinary, comprehensive approach to cancer care.

“Our staff works very hard to make sure cancer patients receive not onlyDosimetrist programs the delivery of radiation therapy leading-edge treatment, but also the most compassionate care,” says Cancer Center Executive Director Brendan Fitzpatrick. “By offering clinical trials, following national guidelines for treatment, and constantly seeking ways to improve care, we are able to provide a cancer program of the highest quality.”

In addition to accreditation, the cancer center received commendation for exceeding standards in six areas. These areas include the number of patients enrolled in clinical trials, nursing care, adherence to the College of American Pathologists protocols, the public reporting of outcomes, and timeliness and accuracy in the cancer database.

Cone Health Cancer Center at Alamance Regional has been accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer since 1986 and undergoes on-site surveys every three years. Only one in four hospitals holds cancer program accreditation from the American College of Surgeons.
