Cone Health Cancer Center Hosts Lung Cancer Awareness Event
The 5th Annual Lung Cancer Vigil will be held at the Cone Health Cancer Center at Wesley Long Hospital on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 6 to 7 p.m. Cone Health is partnering with the Lung Cancer Alliance to increase public awareness about lung cancer. It is part of the Alliance’s Shine a Light on Lung Cancer national awareness program.
“This candlelight vigil is a powerful event and reminds us of the need for continued awareness about lung cancer,” says Cone Health Vice President of Oncology Services Skip Hislop. “Our community is fortunate to have a very talented lung cancer team and so many advanced treatment options dedicated to beating this disease.”
The evening of reflection, remembrance and support will feature survivors telling their stories about lung cancer and the impact it has on their lives.
Lung cancer is the second most frequently treated cancer at Cone Health Cancer Center with more than 400 cases treated last year.
