Cone Health Cancer Center Offers Program on Ovarian Cancer

The Cone Health Cancer Center presents a free program on ovarian cancer by noted gynecologic oncologist Daniel L. Clarke-Pearson Monday, Aug. 19, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the education center of Wesley Long Hospital.

Ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer death among American women and is difficult to detect early. Risk factors include:

A family history of ovarian cancer.Inherited changes in specific genes.The use of hormone replacement therapy after menopause.Obesity.Being taller than 5 feet 8 inches.

The seminar will focus on the latest advances in prevention and treatment of gynecologic cancers.
