Cone Health Cancer Center Provides Free Cervical Cancer Screenings

Cone Health Cancer Center is holding free cervical cancer screenings, Monday, Oct. 21, 6-8 p.m. at Cone Health Cancer Center at MedCenter High Point and Monday, Oct. 28, 6-7:30 p.m. at Cone Health Cancer Center at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville.

“Getting regular Pap smears is one of the best things a woman can do to protect herself from cervical cancer,” says Cone Health Oncology Outreach Manager Christine Brannock. “Pap smears can detect abnormal cells in the cervix. Removing these cells may prevent cancer.”

The screenings are for women who are 21 years old or older and have been sexually active, and have never had a Pap smear or have not had a Pap smear within the past two years. Women who do not have insurance or cannot afford to see a physician are especially encouraged to take advantage of the free screenings.

While the screenings are free, women are encouraged to make an appointment by calling 832-8000.
