Cone Health Foundation Awards $4.4 Million to 43 Nonprofits

Cone Health Foundation today announced the commitment of $4,445,743 in grants to 43 Greensboro-area nonprofit organizations. “We are pleased to work toward improving the health of the Greensboro area,” said Susan Shumaker, president, Cone Health Foundation. There were 53 applications requesting $6,253,030 in this grant cycle.

These awards support agencies working in the Foundation’s four focus areas of grantmaking:  access to health care, adolescent pregnancy prevention, HIV/AIDS, and mental health and substance abuse. Some fall outside of these defined categories and support community collaborations. Cone Health Foundation’s single largest grant of $458,662 will go to Triad Adult and Pediatric Medicine, which provides access to care for chronically ill indigent patients seeking primary care and pharmaceutical services.

“Our mission is to invest in the development and support of activities, programs and organizations that measurably improve the health of the people in the greater Greensboro area,” said Shumaker. “We do this by providing grants to organizations that are clearly focused on the same goal.
