Freeman Named Nursing Director for Moses Cone Hospital Emergency Department

Misty Freeman, RN, has been named director of nursing for the emergency department at The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. As such, Freeman will oversee the day-to-day operations of the 68-bed unit, which saw 92,303 patient visits last year. She will also be responsible for leading the Emergency Department’s 230 employees and the department’s move into the larger, remodeled emergency department that will be located in the newly constructed North Tower. The North Tower opens in June.

Misty Freeman, RN

Freeman comes to Cone Health from Alamance Regional Medical Center where she was emergency department director. Previously, she was administrative director of critical care and emergency services for Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, Va. Among her many achievements during her previous employment is a history of cutting wait times and improving employee satisfaction scores in emergency departments.

“Misty’s experience, enthusiasm and dedication to improving care for our patients makes her an excellent addition to our emergency services team,” says Emergency Services Executive Director, Cheryl Somers, RN.

Freeman obtained her master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Phoenix and her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of North Alabama.
