Jones Named Cone Health Chief Financial Officer
Jeffrey Jones has been named Chief Financial Officer for Cone Health. Jones comes to Cone Health from the Cleveland Clinic, where he is senior vice president of finance for the Clinic’s regional hospitals. He will start at Cone Health on Feb. 4, replacing Ken Boggs, who retired at the end of 2012.
“Jeff has an impressive background with more than 20 years of healthcare finance experience at large, complex organizations,” says Tim Rice, CEO, Cone Health. “Equally important, he is a highly personable leader with top-notch communication and relationship-building skills. I have no doubt that he will fit in extremely well with our Cone Health culture, and help lead us toward our vision of national leadership in quality, service and cost effectiveness.”
Jones is currently responsible for the financial oversight of eight Cleveland Clinic regional hospitals that serve the greater Cleveland community. These hospitals have net revenues of more than $1.5 billion. Jones recently led efforts that allowed hospital finance and capital planning to work more closely together and led other initiatives to improve Cleveland Clinic finances.
Previously, Jones was vice president of finance at Shands Healthcare in Gainesville, FL, a diverse system that includes an academic medical center, community and specialty hospitals. Prior to that, he worked at West Virginia University Hospitals as director of accounting, controller and then vice president of finance and CFO. He was also an accounting manager at INOVA Health System in Fairfax, VA, and began his career at Medical Practice Management, also in Fairfax.
Jones has a bachelor’s degree from George Mason University in Fairfax and an MBA from West Virginia University. He is currently a candidate for a doctorate in management at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
