Moses Cone and Wesley Long Hospitals Receive Quality Designations
The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital and Wesley Long Hospital have received Blue Distinction Centers+ designations from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina for providing high-quality care. Both hospitals were recognized for having proven success in delivering quality care in knee and hip replacement surgery. Moses Cone Hospital earned an additional designation for spine surgery.
The Blue Distinction Centers for Specialty Care® program is awarded nationally to medical facilities meeting rigorous quality criteria. The program recently expanded to include enhanced quality measures focused on improved patient health and safety as well as new cost-efficiency measures.
“Our goal is to provide only the highest quality of care to our patients,” says Vice President of Neurosciences, Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Anne Macner. “It is great to have our efforts validated by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina.”
Research confirms that those healthcare providers who earn the Blue Distinction Centers+ designation demonstrate better quality and improved outcomes for patients, in addition to having lower rates of complications and readmissions than their peers. Blue Distinction Centers+ healthcare providers also are more than 20 percent more cost efficient. The program provides consumers with tools to help them make better informed healthcare decisions.
“Our goal is to help customers access the best quality healthcare and understand that high-quality care does not have to cost more,” states Vice President of Network Management for Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina Lisa Cade. “We are pleased to recognize those hospitals that show they share these goals.”
