Top Women’s Only Winners to Receive Custom Jewelry

Winners in 13 categories of the Women’s Only 5K Walk & Run will be awarded custom jewelry from Mark Holder Jeweller of Greensboro. The winners will receive a necklace and custom pendant. The nickel-size silver disc features a breast cancer ribbon made of 15 vivid, pink sapphires and comes with a sterling silver chain.

This marks the sixth year that Mark Holder Jeweller has donated the top prizes for the Women’s Only 5K Walk & Run. “So many of us know someone who has breast cancer,” says Robyn Holder of Mark Holder Jeweller. “It feels good to know you are making a difference by helping more local women get this life-saving test.”

The Women’s Only 5K Walk & Run is Saturday, Oct. 5, at Women’s Hospital. It is the primary fundraiser for the Mammography Scholarship Fund. The Fund paid for free or reduced-cost mammograms for 730 women in Guilford and Rockingham counties last year.

According to the National Cancer Institute, women have a 1 in 8 chance of getting breast cancer. Mammography remains the gold standard for finding breast cancer at its earliest, more treatable stages.

The Women’s Only 5K Walk & Run begins at 8 a.m. with the Girls’ Only race for participants 6 years old and younger. Registration is $40. Girls’ Only Mini-Walk & Run registration is $10.
