Tucker Named Supervisor of Pre-Service Center
Kelley Tucker has been named supervisor of the Cone Health Pre-Service Center, which will consolidate patient pre-service functions (e.g., insurance verification, insurance pre-authorization and pre-registration) into a centralized location, a workflow model that represents a best practice in the healthcare industry. This workflow redesign will result in an improved patient experience. The Pre-Service Center will occupy a Cone Health property at Adams Farm, and will open July 15.
“One of the functions of the Pre-Service Center is to determine the insurance coverage of each patient and inform them of their financial liability. Doing so upfront allows patients to make informed decisions about the timing and the criticality of care, especially in the case of elective care,” says Tucker. The Cone Health Pre-Service Center will work with patients in advance of their treatment to obtain information from their insurance companies about their financial obligations. “The out-of-pocket cost an individual pays for care is determined by his or her insurance plan. The Pre-Service Center allows consumers to know how much their plan stipulates that they pay to eliminate the element of surprise the day of care and/or when their bill arrives. In addition, gathering and giving financial information prior to the patient’s arrival should expedite the registration process, allowing the staff as well as the patient to focus on care.”
Tucker has been at Cone Health for nearly 12 years. Her most recent position was as an admission services supervisor. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from East Carolina University. She has been a member of the North Carolina Association of Healthcare Access Management since 2004.
