Two Cone Health Hospitals Awarded Coveted 2013 Leapfrog Top Hospital Distinctions
The Leapfrog Group has named Wesley Long Hospital and Annie Penn Hospital to its list of Top Hospitals. The announcement came at Leapfrog’s annual meeting in Arlington, Va., which gathered key decision makers from Leapfrog's network of purchaser members, industry partners, healthcare stakeholders and national collaborators.
“What an exciting day for patients across Cone Health,” says Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mary Jo Cagle. ”We’ve already looked at the data and applied lessons learned to all Cone Health facilities. While I congratulate our staff for their terrific work in achieving these recognitions of quality, our patients are the big winners.”
The selections are based on the results of the Leapfrog Group’s annual hospital survey, which measures hospitals’ performance on patient safety and quality, focusing on three critical areas of hospital care: how patients fare, resource use and management structures in place to prevent errors.
“The field of hospitals considered for this year’s elite Leapfrog Top Hospital distinction was more competitive than ever. By achieving the Top Hospital accolade, Wesley Long Hospital and Annie Penn Hospital have demonstrated exemplary performance across all areas of quality and patient safety that are analyzed on the Leapfrog Hospital Survey,” says The Leapfrog Group President and CEO Leah Binder. “If my family or friends needed care, I’d be comfortable sending them to either facility.”
The two Cone Health hospitals were named to the Leapfrog Annual Top Hospital list out of a record number of 1,324 hospitals participating in The Leapfrog Group’s annual survey. The results of the survey are posted at leapfroggroup.org/cp.
