Elon University Football Game Benefits Cancer Patients

Football fans can score big in their support of local cancer patients by buying tickets to the Oct. 4 Elon University football game. The Alamance Regional Charitable Foundation, which provides financial support to needy cancer patients, is the beneficiary of a portion of the proceeds from online ticket sales.

“This is a terrific way to help many people in our community with cancer and we are thrilled to partner with the Phoenix football team,” says Charitable Foundation Director Katie Boon. “Having cancer is hard. Many people miss work and have trouble paying the light bill or even finding a way to come to Cone Health Cancer Center at Alamance Regional for treatment. These funds bridge the gap until our patients feel better and get back on their feet.”

To reserve bleacher seats and take part in this fundraiser, Phoenix fans must buy their tickets to the Oct. 4 game against the New Hampshire Wildcats online at armc.com/charitable-foundation, click #supportthrusports and use the special offer code ARMCFOUNDATION (all caps.)

"We are extremely happy that we can help assist with such a worthy cause. It is very important to me and this team that we help people in our community, and this is just another way in which we can do that,” says Elon University Head Football Coach Rich Skrosky. “We would love to raise a lot of money for the Alamance Regional Charitable Foundation by selling a lot of tickets to a game against a nationally-ranked opponent, and get a victory in our first-ever CAA Football game."

To support patient programs, the foundation is also raffling a $10,000 grand prize through the “Support Thru Sports” campaign. Tickets cost $20 each, and no more than 1,000 tickets will be sold. Tickets may be purchased at the foundation office at Alamance Regional Medical Center and online at armc.com/charitable-foundation. The drawing will take place on Oct. 25 at the Elon University football game. (You do not have to be present to win.)

The Alamance Regional Charitable Foundation provides for patients beyond the care and treatment they receive at Alamance Regional Medical Center, helping those at a time when they need it the most.
