Resh Named Emergency Department Director at Wesley Long Hospital

 

Karen Resh, RN, has been promoted to director of the Wesley Long Hospital Emergency Department. She will lead the 32-bed, 150-employee department that sees more than 52,000 patient visits a year.

Karen ReshFor the past four years, Resh has been the director of the emergency  department at MedCenter High Point. Under her leadership, patients and their families have ranked their emergency department experience in the 90th-99th percentile for three straight years.

“Karen enjoys a terrific reputation across Cone Health,” says Cone Health Executive Director of Emergency Services Cheryl Somers, RN. “She is known for developing employees and for making a visit to the emergency department as good as it can be for patients and families.”  

Resh is a former Great 100 nursing award recipient. She is certified in the Six Sigma quality improvement process, is a member of the North Carolina Association of Nurse Executives and is a member of the Emergency Nurses Association. Resh is active in the community, twice serving as president of the YWCA of Greater High Point Board of Directors.

Resh earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from William Jewell College in Liberty Mo. and a Master in Business Administration/Master of Health Administration degree from Pfieffer University.
