Cone Health Cancer Center Earns Two Major Accreditations

Cone Health Cancer Center has earned two recent accreditations pointing to the outstanding quality of its programs. The oncology program earned the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) Certification from the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the radiation oncology program at Cone Health Cancer Center at Wesley Long Hospital was accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

The QOPI certification was awarded to Cone Health Cancer Centers at Annie Cone Health Cancer CenterPenn Hospital, MedCenter High Point and Wesley Long Hospital. All six cancer centers, (including the cancer centers at Alamance Regional and Randolph Hospital) are QOPI certified. Each center successfully met the standards and objectives of the QOPI Certification Program, including meeting key quality measures and chemotherapy safety standards.

The ACR certification applies to Cone Health Cancer Center at Wesley Long Hospital. This accreditation underscores Cone Health’s focus on having the highest levels of standards in processes and procedures to ensure the patient’s best care and safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting guidelines and standards developed by ACR after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified radiation oncologists and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Patient care and treatment, patient safety, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed.

“These accreditations speak to the outstanding quality and safety that we provide in cancer care,” says Cone Health Vice President of Oncology Services Skip Hislop. “Earning these accreditations let us know that we are providing the very best care to our patients.”
