Physician engagement is the ability of a hospital to partner with physicians to improve the quality of care, improve customer service and lower the costs of providing care. “Nearly everything that goes on in a hospital begins with a physician order,” says Annie Penn Hospital President and Behavioral Health Service President Debbie Cunningham, DNP, RN. “When physicians, nurses, administrators and others work together, great things happen for patient care. And this award shows you won’t find a team that works together any tighter than at Annie Penn Hospital.”

"We are proud to partner with Annie Penn Hospital,” says Press Ganey CEO Patrick T. Ryan. “This award is a testament to the organization’s leadership in delivering patient-centered care. By achieving and sustaining this level of excellence, Cone Health continues to demonstrate its commitment to reducing patient suffering and advancing the overall quality of health care.”

Physicians take on roles in many key areas at Annie Penn Hospital:

  • Several physicians are enrolled in the Cone Health Physician Leadership Academy at the Center for Creative Leadership.
  • Physicians provide input in planning service improvements or starting new ones.
