December Promotions and Hires at Cone Health

Here are a few recent hires and promotions at Cone Health.

Elizabeth Edwards, RN, has been promoted to clinical practice and quality administrator for oncology services across the Cone Health network. Edwards was previously director of medical oncology for Cone Health Cancer Center at Annie Penn Hospital. She earned her Masters of Science in Nursing degree from Duke University with a focus in nursing and health care leadership.

Anne Brown, RN, has been promoted to executive director of the office of patient experience. Brown previously served as director of nursing at Wesley Long Hospital.  Brown is a graduate of the University of Georgia. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Cleo Montpellier has been named director of surgical services at Annie Penn Hospital. He had served as interim director since February 2015. Montpellier will maintain his responsibilities as director of surgical services at Women’s Hospital. Montpellier earned his undergraduate degree from Niagara College in Ontario, Canada, a Master of Science in Nursing degree from UNCG and a Master in Health Care Administration degree from Pfeiffer University.

Jack Smith has assumed the role of system director for environmental services. In this role, he will have oversight of environmental services directors at Annie Penn Hospital, Behavioral Health Hospital, Cone Health Cancer Center at Wesley Long Hospital, Moses Cone Hospital, Penn Nursing Center, Wesley Long Hospital and Women’s Hospital. Smith is a graduate of The University of Virginia. He is a certified health care environmental services professional through the American Hospital Association.

Chris Van den Avont has been named system director for nutrition services. In this role, he will oversee the directors of nutrition services at Annie Penn Hospital, Behavioral Health Hospital, Cone Health Cancer Center at Wesley Long Hospital, Moses Cone Hospital, Penn Nursing Center, Wesley Long Hospital and Women’s Hospital. Van den Avont graduated from Washburne College in Chicago with a degree in culinary arts, is a member of the American Culinary Federation and is a certified executive chef.
