Delaney Named to Prestigious Leadership Program

The Alamance Regional Medical Center leader will spend two years working with leaders across the nation.

Alamance Regional Medical Center Vice President of Nursing and Patient Services, LaVern Delaney, RN, MSN,  has been named to The Academy GE Fellows Program for Nurse Executives. Delaney is one of 11 national leaders selected for the class of 2016.

Those accepted into the program must have demonstrated leadership abilities. The program is designed to accelerate fellows’ leadership development in their organizations. “As a leader, LaVern constantly focuses on the patient and their health care experience,” says Cone Health Executive Vice President.

Fellows develop a project and spend the next two years leading it. Fellows are encouraged to submit their final papers for publication. Along the way, Delaney will work with health system and industry executives, expert faculty and others.   

Delaney joined Cone Health in 2005 as a nursing department director, and in 2007 was named director of nursing services for the cardiovascular and critical care service line. She became vice president of nursing and patient services in 2013. 

Delaney earned a master’s degree in business administration and health administration from Pfeiffer University, Misenheimer, North Carolina; a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville; and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from University of Virginia, Charlottesville.

Delaney is  board certified as a nurse executive by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She is a member of the American Nurses Association and the North Carolina Nurses Association. She currently serves on the boards of CrossRoads sexual assault response and resource center, and HealthShare Credit Union.
