Cone Health Offers Yellow Fever Vaccine

Cone Health clinic is one of only four in the state that can provide a replacement vaccine to deal with a shortage.

Cone Health Employee Health & Wellness is one of only four North Carolina locations selected to provide yellow fever vaccines. The vaccine is required or highly recommended for travelers to certain destinations in Africa, Asia and South America, and there is a limited supply.

Travelers needing yellow fever vaccine should contact Cone Health Employee Health & Wellness clinic at 336-832-3600.The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) expects supplies of the only yellow fever vaccine licensed in the U.S. to run out this summer.

The CDC and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration have worked with another manufacturer – Sanofi Pasteur – to bring a limited supply of its vaccine into the U.S. and have designated a small number of clinics to distribute it. Cone Health Employee Health & Wellness, located at 200 E. Northwood St., Suite 101, Greensboro, is one of those clinics. The Sanofi Pasteur vaccine is called Stamaril. It has been safely used in Europe for decades.
