Our services include: medical/hematology oncology, chemotherapy, radiation oncology and other specialized technologies.
To provide our patients with the best cancer care, our medical and hematology oncology doctors, and specialized oncology nurses are dedicated to the research, services and treatments for cancers of the blood and related disorders.
To ensure the most advanced care, each team specializes in one or two types of cancer. In addition, we have a dedicated on-site laboratory that also oversees blood product transfusions and procedures.
When one or more drugs are used to keep cancer cells from multiplying, this treatment is called chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is sometimes given in additional to radiation therapy and surgery.
Your medical team will order medications most effective for treating your particular cancer. Their choice of medications will depend on the type and location of the cancer, the stage of the cancer and the effectiveness of the medication.
Chemotherapy may be given by mouth or intravenously through a vein. It may be ordered daily, weekly or monthly. Sometimes treatment is given over longer intervals to include rest periods. This gives your body a chance to recover between treatments. Your physician will determine how long you need to undertake chemotherapy treatments; treatments can take several months to years.
Our Cancer Center provides a specialized area for chemotherapy treatments adjacent to our in-house laboratory where the chemotherapy medications are compounded. Each of our private and spacious patient treatment pods has a flat screen television and work area.
