Patient and Family Support
We understand that cancer disrupts every aspect of our patients’ and families’ lives. We know that cancer can challenge psychological, social, spiritual and financial resources. To help, Cone Health is proud to offer the Doris S. Tanger Center for Patient and Family Support. Our center provides all of the support services cancer patients and their families need in one convenient location.
Most of our programs are offered free of charge for our patients and their families. We encourage all patients and their families to take full advantage of the support programs offered each month.

Cone Health offers an on-site genetic counselor who provides cancer risk assessments.
Many forms of cancer are caused by hereditary traits. This means that certain cancers are a result of an altered gene passed from parent to child. This can come from either the father’s or mother’s side of the family.
Our genetics counseling allows our specially trained counselor to assess your risk through a variety of tests and offer guidance based on the test results.
