Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation
Our Cone Health Inpatient Rehabilitation Center provides our patients with spinal cord injuries with comprehensive rehabilitation services. Depending on the type and location of the injury, our rehabilitation program may teach our patients how to manage their own care or new ways to accomplish daily activities.
Our experienced rehabilitation physician and staff members work with our patients and their families to create a personalized treatment plan to help each patient regain as much independence as possible, with the goal of returning to home and the community.
Each patient’s personal rehabilitation program includes building strength and endurance, mastering self-care techniques (such as bowel and bladder management) and developing mobility skills.
We consider each patient’s unique situation and may recommend and provide training for adaptive equipment and assistive technology to help increase independence and function at home. Also, we teach our patients and their caregivers how to maintain their health and prevent future complications that may occur after a spinal cord injury.
Spinal cord injuries are a traumatic life event, and we understand that our patients’ emotional well-being is vital to their recovery. So, our social worker and neuropsychologist actively help our patients with the compassion, respect and understanding they deserve.
