Addressing Food Insecurity in Our Communities

At the Cone Health Center for Health Equity, we believe everyone should have access to healthy food. That’s why we’re working to reduce food insecurity across our communities. This effort is part of our larger goal: to reduce life expectancy gaps by five years in five years.

Food Assistance During the Federal Benefits Pause

Due to the ongoing government shutdown, SNAP and WIC benefits are delayed or halted—leaving many families without access to essential nutrition. If you or someone you know is affected, help is available.

A Growing Network of Support

Food Pantry

Clara Gunn Food Market

Many people in our community face challenges getting enough healthy food. To help, Cone Health has expanded its food distribution efforts to reach more patients and families. We now deliver food to several Cone Health locations on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month.

Locations We Serve

Our food distribution program supports the following sites:

Alamance County

Guilford County

Rockingham County

Note: The Cancer Centers receive food twice a month, which is shared across all three locations.

Community Events and Education

We also support local events and classes that teach healthy cooking skills. One example is our Healthy Cooking Class, held at Vance Chavis Library on the third Monday of every month.
