Joan Evans provides leadership on initiatives and support to advance the CEO's agenda for Cone Health. She serves as his trusted advisor and manages strategic projects and other work critical to the successful execution of the strategic plan and brand promise. Evans ensures that the CEO is kept abreast of critical internal and external concerns and helps the CEO optimize his time to add the most value to Cone Health.
Previously, Evans was executive vice president of innovation and transformation at Cone Health. She has also served as vice president of organizational effectiveness and performance.
Evans joined Cone Health in 1981 as a physical therapist. She has since served in various roles including vice president of rehabilitation, vice president of health services and chief learning officer.
Evans earned an MBA degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) and a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond. She also is a graduate of the NeuroLeadership Institute™ with a certification in neuroleadership, and is a certified ontological executive coach.
Evans is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. She serves on the Bryan School of Business at UNCG, the Elon University Board of Advisors and the board of the Greensboro Science Center. In 2017, Evans received the UNCG Bryan School of Business and Economics Distinguished Alumni Award.
