Kenneth Rempher, PhD, RN, MBA, CENP
Executive Vice President, Acute Care Services and Chief Nurse Executive
Kenneth Rempher, PhD, RN, MBA, CENP, is executive vice president, acute care services and chief nurse executive at Cone Health. He is responsible for setting the standards for nursing practice and continuously improving the quality and safety of patient care.
Rempher joined Cone Health in August 2016 from University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and University of Iowa Health Care where he served as chief nursing officer. Rempher began his career as a nursing assistant and then a bedside nurse in the areas of emergency services, critical care and cardiovascular surgery.
Rempher earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Minnesota, a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Maryland, a master’s in business administration from The Merrick School at the University of Baltimore and a PhD from the University of Maryland.
Over a 20-year career, Rempher has presented at multiple national and international conferences. He has published numerous articles in both administrative and clinical journals and has contributed to several nursing textbooks. In 2017, Rempher was named one of the Becker’s Hospital Review 60 chief nurse executives to know.
Rempher is a past recipient of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses Excellence in Leadership award and 100 Great Iowa Nurses. His academic interests lie in health services research, patient care delivery systems, executive administration and critical care nursing.
