Marlon Priest

Marlon Priest, MD serves as chief clinical officer for Cone Health. In this role, Priest will set the tone for Cone Health’s clinical staff and its interaction with patients. This includes responsibility for the quality of care, the safety of care and the customer experience.

Priest came to Cone Health in 2021. At the time he served as an advisor and consultant to individual leaders and startup companies. Previously, Priest was an executive vice president and chief medical officer for Bon Secours Health System in Marriottsville, Maryland.

Priest earned his medical degree at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham where he graduated with honors and was selected into Alpha Omega Alpha—an honor society in the field of medicine. Priest served in leadership at both the health system and the medical school, culminating in his role as associate dean and associate vice president for health affairs. Priest is board certified in internal medicine and emergency medicine.

Priest is a Health Policy Fellow with the Institute of Medicine, He served on the Advisory Panel of Medicare Education for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Center for Medicare and Medicaid. Priest also served on the board of directors of three of the largest faith-based health systems.  

Priest is a scholar with the Association of Academic Health Centers and had a Pew Fellowship with the Association of American Medical Colleges. He is also a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and serves on the University of Alabama National Alumni Board of Directors.
