Valerie A. Leschber, MD
Chief Medical Informatics Officer, Cone Health
Valerie Leschber, MD, serves as chief medical informatics officer at Cone Health. Leschber provides leadership for the development and use of technology that supports and improves patient care. This includes electronic medical records and virtual health. She assumed this role in 2015. Leschber leads the development and use of clinical technology supporting patient care and advancing clinical quality across Cone Health .
In addition, Leschber is the medical director over physician and advanced practice provider recruiting across Cone Health and serves as medical director for the Elon University Department of Physician Assistant Studies in Elon, North Carolina.
She joined LeBauer HealthCare, Primary Care in 2003, where she practiced internal medicine through 2016 and served as division chief. Leschber was also medical director for Cone Health Medical Group’s Primary Care Division.
Leschber earned a medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, and a Bachelor of Science degree at Texas A & M University.
Leschber is a graduate of the Health Management Academy's Chief Medical Officer Fellowship. She is a member of the inaugural class of the Physician Leadership Academy, a project of Cone Health and the Center for Creative Leadership. (2013)
A board-certified internist, Leschber became board-certified in clinical informatics in 2018. Leschber participated in the 2015-2016 class of the Disparities Leadership Program associated with the Disparities Solutions Center at Massachusetts General Hospital.
She is a board member of Peacehaven Community Farm, a residential community and sustainable farm for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
