Eczema

Woman applies cream to eczema on hand

At the Allergy & Asthma Center of North Carolina, we use a detailed history from the patient in conjunction with environmental and/or food testing to try to figure out triggers for eczema. Depending on the severity of the condition, we come up with a personalized plan for treatment.

Patch Testing

Contact dermatitis and eczema often go hand-in-hand. We offer patch testing that can evaluate whether chemicals - such as cosmetics, cleaning products, or metals – are causing inflammation that can make skin worse.

Topicals

The first line therapy for eczema treatment are topical creams and ointments. We use a personalized approach to treatment, taking into account patient’s preferences, age, and the area of the body involved to come up with an appropriate therapeutic regimen. We have samples of the newest topical anti-inflammatories on the market that allow patients to be able to try a medication before we send in a prescription for it. We work with Cone Health pharmacies and other pharmacies to find the best price on medications.

Biologics

There are various injectable medications (biologics) that can target eczema-triggering chemicals in our immune system. These can help with both the seen (i.e. rash) and the unseen (i.e. itch) that make living with eczema unbearable, allowing patients with eczema to live their most productive, fulfilling life. We have a dedicated staff members who assures that there is insurance approval in place and helps with copay card assistance.
