Environmental Allergy

At the Allergy & Asthma Center of North Carolina, we use a detailed history from the patient as well as skin testing and blood work, if needed, to identify environmental triggers for environmental allergy symptoms.

Common environmental allergy symptoms include:

  • Sneezing.
  • Itchy, watery eyes.
  • Postnasal drip.
  • Congestion.

Our allergy specialists provide treatment for environmental allergies in the form of medications, environmental control measures and allergy shots, depending on the severity of your symptoms. We offer samples of the newest medications and work with pharmacies — including Cone Health Community Pharmacies — to find the best price of medications for each patient.

Allergy Shots (Immunotherapy)

Allergy shots can help relieve your allergy symptoms by retraining your immune system to ignore allergens. Allergy shots lead to long term, permanent immune change.

Allergy shots require weekly visits for injections for a short period of time, then space out to every month and continue for 3-5 years. We offer both a traditional protocol timeline, where you receive 1-2 injections weekly, as well as rush protocols that can help you reach the maintenance phase more quickly.
