Venom Allergy

Wasp rests on a flower

Approximately 10% of people will develop allergic reactions to venom from stinging insects. At the Allergy & Asthma Center of North Carolina, we use a detailed history from patients in combination with skin testing and blood work to diagnose this condition. We also provide training for epinephrine administration devices, such as EpiPens, which can be lifesaving.

Venom Shots (Immunotherapy)

We offer venom immunotherapy for patients with stinging insect allergies. These injections are tailored specifically for patient’s stinging insect sensitization and can help to prevent anaphylaxis from future stings.

We offer both traditional protocol timelines, where you receive weekly injections, as well as rush protocols that can help patients reach the maintenance phase more quickly. Venom shots are eventually spaced to every 8-12 weeks.
