James Waddell, System Wide Patient Care Support Manager
I started at Cone Health in 1999 as an entry level Receiving Technician. One day while I was working the loading docks, a man in a tie introduced himself and asked if I ever thought about being a supervisor. Turns out the window of his office overlooked the docks and he was impressed with how I handled myself. To me, I was just doing my job. That was 20 years and four promotions ago. I’m now the System Wide Patient Care Support Manager.
I’ve been given so many opportunities here. It’s a journey that has had such a positive effect on my life. The people of Cone Health have supported me every step of the way through training, leadership classes, invaluable online resources, and access to a Success Coach, not to mention continuous encouragement from so many of my teammates. Today, I’m working toward my master’s in health care administration, thanks in no small part to the Cone Health tuition reimbursement program. I feel fortunate to wake up every morning and be genuinely excited to come to work. And I’m not exaggerating when I say, “every” morning.
