Shayla Smith
Pharmacy Tech Team Lead

DeeDee

Before I joined the Cone Health pharmacy team in 2017, I really didn’t know what it meant to be respected at work. In fact, my previous experiences were just the opposite. I was rarely treated as an equal or as someone with the potential to grow and thrive. That changed on my very first day at Cone Health and has only become more pronounced with each passing year. The support from my immediate peers and supervisors, as well as co-workers outside the pharmacy department, is beyond what I ever would have imagined. I am celebrated for who I am and what I do. In turn, I celebrate the efforts and accomplishments of others. The result? A mutual boost of self-esteem and a widespread feeling of pride. From the start, my supervisor saw something in me that I didn’t even recognize in myself. Now I’m Team Lead and taking advantage of training and self-improvement sessions. I don’t just like what I do, I am passionate about it and continue to be inspired by the faith shown in me. Cone Health is a special place filled with special people.
