Research focus area: Childhood trauma processing in adults; Mental Health effects on maternal mortality and morbidity.

Practice Interests: Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Perinatal Psychiatry

Why Cone Health: I met Dr. Kumar during an Open House, and we both spoke openly about our visions and goals for integrated and holistic psychiatric care with respect to everyone despite his or her societal status. In that session, as well as during my interview day, I felt seen and knew that I would not only receive the best training to practice in an underserved community but would be able to continue to act on my passions for community involvement and advocacy. I had no doubt that Cone Health would be the ideal program for me. I'm very excited to call Greensboro my new home!

Why Cone Health: I chose Cone Health because of amazing opportunities like working at the new Guilford County Crisis Center. This facility has the potential to provide transformative psychiatric care for the people of Greensboro and I look forward to being a part of it. I also chose Cone Health because of its location. The city of Greensboro has excellent places to live and seems like a great place to raise a family.

Practice Interests: Interventional Psychiatry, Emergency Psychiatry, Sleep Medicine, Addiction Medicine, Student Mental Health

Why Cone Health: During my interview with Cone Health, it was apparent that this program strives for excellent resident education by providing a variety of learning opportunities to a small class size. This allows me to see and try a little bit of everything in the field of psychiatry so that I can find my passion and calling. However, what really stood out to me is the unique opportunity to train in leadership and administrative roles. Lastly, there is also a huge emphasis on ensuring that there is a supportive work environment and that resident wellness is fostered.

Why Cone Health: I chose Cone Health because of its emphasis on a collaborative and holistic approach to patient care, which complements my passion for comprehensive care involving physical, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing. Since it is a new program, with a highly proactive mindset, I will get a unique opportunity to create something special and grow as the program evolves. Here, as a resident, I could foresee getting trained directly under the tutelage of highly dedicated and experienced faculty. It would be a very enriching experience to grow professionally as well as personally in an environment where everyone from program director and attendings to the administration is highly supportive and welcoming. I certainly feel honored to be accepted for the first class of psychiatry residency and be a part of the Cone Health family.

Practice Interests: Inpatient, outpatient and telepsychiatry
Why Cone Health: I chose Cone Health in part because of the newness of the program. I wanted to help build a program from the ground up and influence future doctors. Moreover, Cone Health offers training in unique areas, such as the crisis center, which not only provides amazing learning opportunities but is also a great benefit to the community. I have lived in the Triad for over 20 years, and I am excited to work with my own community and give back to the wonderful place I call home.
