Testing Availability

COVID At-Home Test Kits

FREE COVID-19 Test Kits NOW Available from the U.S. Government

Starting, January 18th, Americans can request free COVID-19 test kits from the U.S. government:

  • Order tests at COVIDTESTS.GOV or text ORDER to 502-582-7290
  • The test kit includes FOUR per residential address, not per person. TEST SUPPLIES ARE LIMITED
  • Tests typically ship within 7-12 days of ordering
  • The first shipments are set to go out by the end of January

The tests should be ordered and kept until somebody in your household starts to feel sick with COVID-like symptoms. Given the shipping and process times, Americans will need to request the tests well before meeting federal guidelines for requiring a test.

VISIT COVIDTESTS.GOV for more information and to place your order.

COVID-19 Tests Reimbursed by Private Insurance

  • As of January 15, private insurers are required by the Biden administration to cover the cost of up to eight at-home rapid tests per month, per insured person.
  • People seeking to take that option can buy the tests themselves, then seek reimbursement from their insurance provider.
