It was a phone call I’ll never forget. The voice on the other end of the line told me I had breast cancer. Even though I was flooded with emotions, there was something reassuring in the voice that gave me hope. From that moment, and all through my treatment, I realized just how big my Cone Health family was. I received the support of not just my department, but from virtually everyone I came in contact with. The encouragement, personal visits and genuine care I experienced was extraordinary. Knowing that I was being looked after by a team of cancer experts was also tremendously comforting, as were my insurance benefits. With them, I was able to put all of my focus on getting well. I recently celebrated my one-year survivor anniversary and every day I celebrate the people of Cone Health who continue to surround me with strength.
