Brian Sumner, MD, FAAP, is a pediatrician with Carolina Pediatrics of the Triad in Greensboro. His professional interests are general pediatrics and improving care for children in the community. For several years, he has been the chair of the Cone Health pediatric peer review committee. In addition, he serves on the board of the Piedmont Triad Community Board for Medical Mutual of North Carolina.
One of his passions is being involved with and supporting Reelin’ For Research, a charity with roots in Greensboro that helps raise money to support the battle against pediatric cancer. This is their 10-year anniversary, and more than $3 million is projected to be donated this year.
A member of the Greensboro Sports Council, he has always enjoyed coaching, including his son’s basketball and baseball teams. His medical knowledge is frequently put to use during children’s games. He enjoys interacting with and supporting children so they are in the best position to be healthy and successful long term.
In his spare time, he loves being with his family, walking his dog and playing tennis. Also, he is a die-hard Atlanta Braves and Wake Forest University sports fan.
