Dr. Hiren Umrania is a child, adolescent, and general psychiatrist with Cone Health. His interest in medicine was shaped early on by a compassionate family physician who took time to listen and connect—an experience that inspired Dr. Umrania’s own approach to care. During medical school, he found a deep connection with patients, especially children, which solidified his passion for psychiatry.
Dr. Umrania believes mental health should be treated with the same openness and urgency as any other medical condition. He emphasizes the importance of staying connected and taking time to truly understand each patient’s experience. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking—especially with his daughter—staying active, and listening to audiobooks.
