John Matthews, M.D. is an experienced eye surgeon specializing in conditions affecting the retina and vitreous humor, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, and macular holes. 

Dr. John Matthews’ expertise as a vitreoretinal surgeon led him to open the Triad Retina and Diabetic Eye Center in Greensboro, NC in 2012. He and his wife, Carol, have three children and live in Greensboro.

He's an old style doc. He's the expert, which he probably is, but he's dismissive, detached, impersonal and comes across as arrogant. I say this as a healthcare provider myself (NP).

It was a very pleasant experience. I am always amazed at how everyone relates to each other and the patients. Most patients are older and some have problems walking and the staff are very careful and caring with everyone.

He was in and out in about six minutes. Staff people did all the eye prep. I had to ask him questions to receive info, but I was prepared to do that, and he answered them all.
