Physical therapist and certified lymphedema therapist, Marti Cooper Smith, PT, CLT, supervises both the Cone Health Outpatient Cancer Rehabilitation and the Brassfield Outpatient Rehabilitation teams. A native speaker of English and conversant in Spanish, she specializes in seeing newly-diagnosed breast cancer patients to initiate care at diagnosis.
Her approach to patient care is based on open communication, compassionate care and providing cutting edge treatment techniques. She is passionate about helping patients regain or maintain maximum function for as long as possible, so they can enjoy the best quality of life. She believes motivating and encouraging patients is important to the healing process.
In her spare time, she enjoys attending her children’s soccer and hockey games, reading, walking and traveling.
“I believe you need to meet patients where they are in their journey, tailoring treatment to meet their needs on that particular day. Listening to patients is as or more important than the treatment we provide.” Marti Cooper Smith, PT, CLT
